About Japanese Association of Leather Technology (JALT) Activities
JALT is a nonprofit organization for leather science and technology. We are the only Japanese leather-related academic society based in Himeji city, Hyogo prefecture, known as the main tanning production area in Japan.
Since establishment in 1955, we have been promoted the Research and Development projects and the communication for the scientists and the technicians in universities, research institutes, and leather related companies in Japan.
For the purpose of contributing to the progress and development of leather, and the leather-related academic and industry, we carry on the following activities.
Developing practical business of leather, leather goods manufacturing technology and quality management technology
Activities for holding research workshop, symposium, workshops, etc. regarding leather technology
Activities for collecting and introducing information regarding leather
Activities for creating and publishing Journal, Publication, etc. regarding leather technology
Activities for drafting committee of Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS)
Our activities are now growing worldwide, such as a member of IULTCS (International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies), ISO TC/120 leather, and CEN TC/289 leather.
